A simpler ice blue dial without a small seconds display adds another highlight to the collection.
A modern reinterpretation of Chopard's 1980s St. Moritz collection, the Alpine Eagle collection debuted in 2019 and quickly became a cornerstone of the brand's sports watch collection. Over the years, the collection has continued to expand to include a variety of sizes, materials and complications, consolidating its position in Chopard's products. This year, Chopard has launched a 41mm platinum ultra-thin Alpine Eagle in its latest release. This new model builds on the earlier Alpine Eagle 41 XPS and adds a central seconds display while retaining the iconic style of the collection with a striking blue dial that enhances its appeal.
A refined interpretation of the collection, the new Chopard Alpine Eagle 41 XP CS Platinum features a 41mm platinum case that is ultra-thin at 8mm and water-resistant to 100 meters. The distinctive round case features a signature bezel with eight screws placed in pairs at each cardinal point. An anti-glare sapphire crystal protects the dial, while a transparent caseback (also anti-glare sapphire) provides a clear view of the movement. At 3 o'clock, the 6.65 mm screw-down platinum crown, embellished with a compass rose motif, subtly protrudes from the satin-brushed case, accentuated by polished chamfers for a sophisticated contrast.
The "Ice" blue dial displays the Alpine Eagle collection's signature radial embossed pattern, inspired by the iris of an eagle. Unlike previous models with a small seconds display, the CS (Center Seconds) designation introduces a smooth central seconds hand with an arrowhead tip and a counterweight in the shape of an eagle's feather. The dial looks clean and bright, and in keeping with its refreshingly icy aesthetic, Chopard has opted for only baton hour markers - except at 12 o'clock, where Roman numerals mark the hours. The white gold baton hour and minute hands and the hour markers are treated with X1-grade Super-LumiNova for optimal readability.
The watch is powered by Calibre 96.42-L, an ultra-thin manual-winding movement with a platinum micro-rotor. Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, the movement offers a power reserve of up to 65 hours thanks to Chopard Twin Technology and a stacked double barrel structure. The movement is COSC-certified and carries the prestigious Geneva Seal, which also extends to the case. The Geneva waves on the bridges and the perlage on the mainplate are visible through the sapphire caseback.
The watch is also presented on a platinum bracelet with satin-brushed links, polished center cap, triple folding clasp, platinum safety pushers and ethical white gold blades.
