Local police have arrested a suspected arsonist after 17 people were killed and 32 injured Tuesday morning in a bus blaze in Northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

Hu added that the bus quickly "turned into a skeleton." Pictures posted on Sina Weibo appeared to show the entire bus engulfed by flames.

More than 40 people were on board when the bus caught fire, according to the official Weibo account of the Yinchuan government's publicity office.
